Would you like to become a Blue Spring advocate and help spread the word about solutions to water pollution?
If so, plan on attending the six-week Save Our Springs and Rivers Academy. The academy will include classroom and field trip experiences, guest speakers and hands-on, feet-wet learning to provide an in-depth engagement experience for residents. Those participating in the course will gain valuable knowledge and pledge to educate others on behalf of Volusia Blue Spring as ambassadors after the course’s completion.
The free adult education course will be held Oct. 24, 25 and 31 and Nov. 1, 8 and 15. The Oct. 24 class will be held at Lyonia Environmental Center, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona. On Oct. 25, the group will take part in a water symposium at the Wayne G. Sanborn Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand. The Nov. 15 class will participate in the ShORE. Symposium at the News-Journal Center in Daytona Beach. All other classes will be held in the second-floor training room of the Historic Courthouse, 120 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand.
The academy is sponsored by the Green Volusia Program and Riverside Conservancy. It is funded in part by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
